How Does it Work?

For the 2017 Season, there will be 3 fixed share types:

Regular Share:

    • 50 lbs plums (many varieties)
    • 25 lbs pears (three varieties)
    • 25 lbs apples (many varieties)
  • $250.00

Light Share:

    • 25 lbs plums (many varieties)
    • 25 lbs pears (three varieties)
    • 25 lbs apples (many varieties)
  • $187.50

Apple Lover’s Share:

  • 100 lbs of fruit consisting of:
    • 25 lbs plums (many varieties)
    • 75 lbs mixed pears and apples
  • $250.00

For all shares:

  • No substitutions or customization
  • Extra orders possible subject to fruit availability – let us know if you would like to be added to our notification list when we have extra fruit available for purchase
  • Most likely 4 pickups over the season, dates dependent upon fruit ripening but usually early-mid August, early September, late September, and mid-October.
  • East Vancouver pickup location (possibility of coordinating secondary pickups depending upon member geography)
  • Up to 4 driver-share opportunities available (do one Summerland-Vancouver delivery trip in exchange for $250 credit).
  • Out of town during a pickup? Please arrange for a friend or family member to pick up your share as we cannot store fruit.  Unclaimed fruit will be donated.
  • Too much fruit for you to use?  Consider splitting a share with a friend!

All the fruit is grown by Al Tinka, in Summerland, BC.  The CSA is coordinated by Kristi Tatebe in Summerland.  Pickups happen at member Jana’s amazing garden in East Vancouver.

Signing Up and Payment

To sign up, please use this form, and submit payment as detailed upon completion of the form.  Returning members from last season will have priority until June 1st, 2017.  We will confirm your spot with you upon receipt of your payment.

**NB: This year we have fewer memberships available due to changes in the orchard (lowering trees to increase safety).  Sign-up early to secure your spot! Once shares are fully allocated, we will keep a list of interested folks in the event we have extra fruit available for purchase (to be paid for upon pickup).

Feedback

The continued success of our CSA depends on the satisfaction of our members.  As such, we are always excited to hear your suggestions, comments, and questions.  Please contact us with any feedback you may have, any time.

We look forward to hearing from you!

When does the fruit come, and how much at a time?

    • Hi Debbie, We can’t predict the exact dates, but in the past the deliveries have been mid-August, Late August/Early Sept, Late Sept and sometimes another in mid-October. It all depends what fruit ripens when. Generally the first delivery (smallest) is 20-30lbs of plums (for a regular share), the second plums, early pears and apples, and the third the same (but later varieties). Hope this helps!

  7. Hi there. I am with wondering when the 2017 CSA will open up?
And a question- is the fruit organic?
    Thanks!
    Clare

  8. Hi Clare! So sorry for the delayed response! We will be opening up shares very soon, but priority will go to returning members. Watch the site for updates. The fruit is non-certified organic. The only input Farmer Al uses is calcium in the spring to help with blossom set. No herbicides, pesticides, or sprays of any kind are used. All trees are hand-pruned, thinned, and harvested with care.
