Hello from the sunny and hot Okanagan! After a good visit with Al today, here is an orchard update:
The yellow plums are likely to be ready for picking on Saturday or Sunday. Fruit set this year is lighter due to a late frost that affected the pollinating insects and burned a few blossoms, but the fruit is that much better and bigger because of it.
Sarika and Farmer Al inspect this year’s yellow plums.
Yellow plums on the tree, about 5 days away from harvest.
Raccoon obstacle course.
Peach plums nestled in the tree, about 5 days from harvest.
Apples, ripening on the tree for a fall harvest.
So our first pickup will be yellow and peach plums, likely within a week! Happy eating!
